Scary Spider Cupcake

Decorating for Halloween parties is always fun! Make the best of yummy food and cute decorations with these scary spider cupcakes. Use them for a party at home or at school for the kids!

From Quick Guide: Cupcakes
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cupcake mix (or cake mix)
  • chocolate sprinkles
  • licorice or chocolate twizzlers
  • small marshmallows
  • food coloring
  1. Step 1

Mix your cake or cupcakes mix according to directions on the box. You may use any type of cake mix for the cupcakes, according to what you like. You can even mix in some orange or red food coloring with a white cake mix so that your spiders have fun colored insides.

  2. Step 2

Bake the cupcakes according to the directions on the box. Once they are baked, let them cool on the counter top for at least 10 minutes. After cooling, carefully remove them from the pan.

  3. Step 3

Cover the cupcakes with chocolate icing. Then use the chocolate sprinkles on top. These make the spiders look furry!

  4. Step 4

Insert the twizzlers into the cupcakes to make it look like the spider has legs. If your cupcakes are small, you may only be able to fit in 6 legs. You can experiment by cutting the twizzlers in half and using only half per leg.

  5. Step 5

Add two small marshmallows to each cupcake to give the spider eyes. Put one drop of food coloring onto each marshmallow to make the eyes more realistic.

Tips & Warnings
  • Let the cupcakes cool completely before icing them. If you don't, the icing might slide off and make a mess.
