Making your own chocolate covered Oreos is so easy and tastes much better than the ones you can buy in the store. Way more chocolate coating, simple enough to make with your kids and will be a party favorite. And takes no time at all to whip up a batch. Give it a try once and you will be making these over and over.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb bag Milk Chocolate wafers
  • 1 Package of Oreo cookies
  • Microwave-safe casserole dish
  • Cookie sheet
  • Wax paper
  • 2 Forks
  1. Step 1

Cover cookie sheet with wax paper.

  2. Step 2

Put 1 lb. of milk chocolate wafers in microwave-safe casserole dish. Microwave for 40 seconds at a time then remove dish from microwave, stir and repeat until you have melted liquid-like chocolate.

  3. Step 3

Place an Oreo cookie in with the chocolate, turning with the forks to fully coat it, then transfer the cookie to the wax paper covered cookie sheet. Repeat until cookie sheet is full.

  4. Step 4

Place cookie sheet in freezer on a flat surface for 5-10 minutes to allow chocolate to harden. Be sure cookies do not slide as you put the cookie sheet in the freezer otherwise cookies will stick together.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try different combinations such as dark chocolate over Mint Oreo cookies.
  • Use the colored white chocolate wafers to create holiday inspired cookies, however, please note that white chocolate maintains a thicker consistency making it a little harder to dip.
  • Microwaving chocolate for more than 40 seconds at a time without stirring may cause chocolate to overheat and not melt well.
  • Be sure to put approximately 20 minutes aside to dip cookies because if you start and have to stop to do something else midway through, the chocolate will harden. Remelting does not seem to get the chocolate to the same liquid-like consistency as the original melting.
