How to Make an Authentic Spaghetti Sauce

This sauce has been a tradition in my family and is a great compliment to my italian meatball recipe. My husband loves this authentic sicilian dish. Enjoy!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2) Large Cans of Tomato Sauce
  • 1) Large can of Progresso Crushed Tomatoes
  • 3 chopped garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp sweet basil
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper(optional)
  • 1 green pepper chopped
  • 1/2 white onion chopped (optional)
  • 6 tbsp Romano/Paremesan Blended cheese
  • 1 tbsp of Classico Pesto (available in the spaghetti sauce isle of your favorite grocery store)
  1. Step 1

    open all cans of sauce and crushed tomatoes. Pour into sauce pan.

  2. Step 2

    Add everything else into pan. Stir all ingredients together.

  3. Step 3

    Add meatballs from "italian meatball recipe" Cover and simmer for 2-3 hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve over whole wheat pasta for a healthier meal.
  • Make sure to stir sauce every hour for ultimate flavor.
