Step 1
Choose FUN activities and vary your routine to keep it interesting. (Bike riding, walking, aerobics, dancing, weight or resistance training, treadmill, elliptical, stepper)

Exercise with a friend (surround yourself with supportive people).

Use music (ipod or MP3 player), TV, or reading to distract yourself if needed - this makes the time go by much quicker.

Pace yourself - don't overdo it. Start off slowly and gradually increase the amount of time you are exercising.

Set goals for yourself - and remember to reward yourself as you meet these goals. (But not with high calorie treats)

Step 6
In order to lose one pound per week you need to either eat 500 less calories every day or increase your activity to burn off 500 extra calories every day.
