Should you buy and 80 GB iPod Classic or a 160 GB iPod Classic?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

As of Fall 2008, the 80 GB iPod Classic costs $249 and holds 20,000 songs. The 160 GB iPod Classic costs $349 dollars and holds 40,000 songs.

Keep in mind that the 160 GB iPod Classic can hold many more movies, photos, audiobooks, as well as songs.

  2. Step 2

However, most people's music libraries are under 80 GB. In fact, way under 80 GB. Go into iTunes and check the size of your library. It's listed right at the bottom of the iTunes browser.

  3. Step 3

If you library is relatively small, and doesn't contain many TV shows, or you don't plan to watch many TV shows on your iPod, the 80 GB iPod is probably right for you. Both iPod Classics are so huge that the main factor in buying one or the other is whether you can load your entire music library onto it at once.

If you have more data then your iPod can hold, you will spend time taking off and putting on music.

If the idea of putting an entire television series on your iPod at once appeals to you, choose the 160 GB iPod Classic.

  4. Step 4

Basically, choose the iPod that suits how you use data. If you don't have a lot of data to put on your iPod, choosing the 160 GB iPod will result in an iPod that's only half, or a quarter full.
