How to Cheat at Quake II

The best Quake II players have superb hand-eye coordination, lightning reflexes and hundreds of hours of experience. The rest of us have cheat codes.

• Quake Software

1. To input a cheat code, you first have to bring up the console screen. Press the tilde (~) key when the game intro begins.
2. Type GET HEALTH in the console if you are severely wounded. This will restore your health to 100.
3. Type GIVE [name of weapon] if you need a specific weapon. The weapons in Quake II include the BLASTER, SHOTGUN, SSHOTGUN, MACHINEGUN, GRENADELAUNCHER, and ROCKETLAUNCHER. Those sound pretty cool, don't they? If you want all the weapons in Quake II, type GIVE WEAPONS.
4. Type GIVE [name of ammo] if you run out of ammunition for your favorite weapon. The ammo types in Quake II include SHELLS, BULLETS, CELLS, GRENADES, ROCKETS, and SLUGS.
5. Type GIVE AMMO if you want all the types of ammunition.
6. Type GIVE INVULNERABILITY if you want to know what it feels like to be an action-movie hero? This cheat makes you invulnerable to damage.
7. Type GOD if you are really frustrated and want to do anything you feel like in the game.

Tips & Warnings

• Quake II can be a challenging game to learn - it's difficult to develop your skills when you're getting killed every few seconds. Use the cheat codes to learn the tricks and strategies of the game, then play it straight.
• Cheat only if you have to. If you get stuck in Quake II, it can be extremely frustrating to repeat a particularly tough sequence or level over and over. Use the cheat codes to get unstuck, then continue on without them.
