Step 1
First thing first. The best way to treat and care for a sunburn starts before you venture into the great outdoor by applying sunscreen. But even that is not enough sometimes.
-
Step 2
A very important part of treating a sunburn is to take in plenty of liquid. Dehydration is very common among sunburn victims.
-
Step 3
Another thing you can do is to apply a aloe based gel that is specifically made for sunburns. There is also sunburn sprays that can be purchased over the counter that relieve some of the pain. Lotions that contain moisturizers are good too.
-
Step 4
It might not be a bad idea to take some aspirin or ibuprofen to help relieve the pain. Remember to follow the directions and recommended dosage provided on the bottle or box that the pills come in.
-
Step 5
Taking cool baths is soothing as well as putting damp cloths on the affected areas. It can help ease the pain and makes the heat from the sunburn more bearable. This is very important, do not take a cold bath or shower because there is a chance it can send the body into shock.

Step 6
Seek medical attention if you experience any of the following with your sunburn.
1. Severe or extreme pain
2. Large blisters that cover a large amount of the body affected
3. Dizziness, fainting, or feeling light headed
4. Vomiting
5. Confusion
6. Very painful headaches
