You haven't had a real southern meal until you have southern fried chicken! There are different ways people make fried chicken to spice it up, but this recipe is the way regular folk cook southern fried chicken.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chicken (cut in pieces)
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil
  • Deep fryer
  • Large pan or cookie sheet
  1. Step 1

Clean chicken pieces. Specifically, scrape the leg to remove any remaining yellow skin. Check the wings for remaining feathers and the back for innards.

  2. Step 2

After cleaning, wash chicken and sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Add oil to deep fryer and let heat to medium temperature.

  3. Step 3

Spread approximately one cup of flour in the pan. Roll chicken in pan of flour to coat. Tap chicken lightly to remove excess flour.

  4. Step 4

Place chicken in deep fryer basket, lower into the oil to cook. Using a fork, pierce meat lightly to ensure it cooks completely.

  5. Step 5

Cook until golden brown and serve. Enjoy your original southern fried chicken with the rest of your entree.
