Kids love this simple snack. You can whip it up in just a few minutes or even have the children help you make them. This is an easy beginners cooking skills project that doesn’t involve using any heat or the oven. If you want to teach slightly older children how to begin cutting with a sharp knife, celery is a good food item to begin learning on because it is easy to grasp with smaller hands. Ants on a celery log are good to pack in lunches and for picnics too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Small Box of Raisins Smooth peanut butter Celery stalks Paring knife Cutting board or surface Regular teaspoon
  1. Step 1

Pull the celery bunch apart and wash each stalk carefully. Make sure you get any grit or soil off or the stalks. Leave the celery to dry or wipe it dry with a dish towel or paper towel.

  2. Step 2

Cut pieces of celery 2” to 3” long. This is a good size for snacking on and easy for little hands to hold on to. Make sure you cut off the big and small ends.

  3. Step 3

Scoop peanut butter from the jar with the small spoon then put it in the u part of the celery so it holds it like a little cup. You can mound it high or leave it a little lower. Keep the ends clean and don’t heap it over the edges. Now you have your brown and green log.

  4. Step 4

Put raisins scattered around on top of the peanut butter. You can put as many or as few as you like. These are the ants sitting on the celery log. Then chow down. This is a healthy and very simple snack.
