Step 1
Keep away from the sun! Once your skin is burned it can burn even worse. Keep in the shade or even outdoors if possible until your skin is fully healed!
-
Step 2
Drink plenty of fluids. Sunburns can dehydrate you. You'll want lots of water going through you.
-
Step 3
Keep a lot of aloe vera nearby. Aloe vera is very soothing to burnt skin and can easily be found at any nearby store. You'll be thankful to have it!
-
Step 4
Take cooler showers/baths. The cool water will help sooth the hot feeling that your skin feels.
-
Step 5
Wear loose fitting clothes. Tighter clothes and rougher materials will irritate your skin. Be comfortable with what you wear and if possible, try to wear softer materials.
-
Step 6
Take tylenol or advil to help with the pain.
-
Step 7
Never pick at peeling skin. Let your skin heal on its own to prevent scarring.
-
Step 8
Soaking a washcloth in cold water and putting it on top of the burnt skin will often relieve the scorched area.
-
Step 9
Hydrocortisone cream can be a life saver. Your skin will itch, but using this cream will help.
-
Step 10
Moisturize your skin with lotion.
-
Step 11
Get plenty of rest. Having a sunburn can be very exhausting. Get sleep if possible and take it easy.
