Find Live Local Auctions
Find Live Local Auctions

If you’ve never been on the winning end of a real live bidding war or stood amazed at a skilled auctioneer’s mile a minute routine, you don’t know what you’re missing. People look for great deals at online auctions all the time. But you can find some amazing items for incredibly low prices at live auctions in your local area.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check in your local newspaper. Many local auctions are listed right in the classified section or your newspapers. The ads often list the highlights and sometimes post a website address where you can find a complete bill of sale with all the auction details and directions to the auction itself.

  2. Step 2

Search for live auctions in your area at Auctionzip.com. You can search by zip codes, auction categories and they have listings in your area set up in calendar format so you can find an auction that interests you on a date that’s convenient.

  3. Step 3

Head to the National Auctioneers Association website (NAA). They have auction listings and a huge list of auctioneers, many of whom are probably located near you. A lot of the auctioneers listed have their own websites advertised here where they list upcoming live local auctions.

  4. Step 4

Check out auction guide.com. They have an enormous database of live auctions from around the world. Many auction houses and auctioneers open their doors well before auction time so buyers can peruse the goods before bidding starts.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do your homework before you bid. Get a complete sale bill and check out all the items that interest you before you head to the auction.
  • Make sure you bring a valid driver’s license or ID as you will be given an auction number for each auction that’s exclusively yours.
