How to make pork tamales

Makes delicious tamales, and anyone can do it.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5lb masa
  • 1 box of lard or manteca 1lb
  • 1 chile (guijillo entero)
  • 1 garlic
  • 1 bag of corn husk
  • 1 large pork roast
  1. Step 1

    Soak corn husk overnight and make sure they are all the way under the water.

  2. Step 2

    Remove seeds from chili pods. Slowly boil chili till soft, then blend till thick, then add 1 garlic, and salt to your liking. this will be your own chili sauce.

  3. Step 3

    For cooking the pork your going to add 2 glasses of water, then add salt and garlic to your liking. Cook at 300 degrees. When pork is finished shred the meat, and add chili sauce. You can add as much as you want whatever taste best. then put roast back in oven and let it cook for a little longer.

  4. Step 4

    Melt lard then add it to the masa. After the meat is cooked your going to add the juice to your masa. If you want more of a red color to masa add more chili sauce.

  5. Step 5

    Spread masa in corn husk add meat and fold. Then place in steamer after all tamales are in pot place a wet towel over tamales and let cook for 2-3 hours on medium heat.

  • Try to buy ingredients from a Mexican grocery store.
