Once you purchase an ipod, it comes with limited instructions I was trying to figure out how to download videos to the ipod, but for some reason I just didn’t get it. It was too complicated for me. Why buy an ipod and use it only to download music and/or audio, right.

My kids hassle me on adding videos to their IPods. They motivated me, so I started the search and I was curious, as well. It took me a whole day to figure it out I was downloading converters from left to right until I found the right one that was suitable for me and it was free.
See the following for the steps...

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Itunes - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
  • Video converter software - http://www.download.com/
  • Quick Time Player - http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
  1. Step 1

Go to cnetdownload.com click on the search box type in “Flash Video Downloader” next to the search button there is another box click on the arrow, highlight “All Software” and then click on the search button. Once you reach to the next page scroll down until you see “Flash Video Downloader You Tube 2.0”. Click on the download button a box will pop up click on the save button. Save the file to your computer. Make a note where you saved the file.

  2. Step 2

Proceed to where you saved the Flash Video Downloader, I saved mines in “My Documents” click on the Flash Video Downloader it's a small blue box with a green arrow pointing down. (Note: The Flash Video Downloader will not appear any where in your computer only where you saved. In order to run it you have to go where you saved it.) A box will pop up click on run the Flash Video Downloader will load you will see the You Tube Homepage.

  3. Step 3

Click on the search button type in anything you want to download. In the search box I typed in “Customer Service”.

  4. Step 4

I clicked on the “Dell” video. Once you pick your video click on the download button on the Flash Video Downloader tool bar.

  5. Step 5

A box will pop up it automatically fills in the file name. Underneath the filename you’ll see “save type as” click on the arrow highlight “ipod video” and click on save.

  6. Step 6

If you look at the bottom, you'll see an output section it's the yellow or orange tab, click on it you should see the video downloading once it downloads it converts in the output section and transfers to your computer.

  7. Step 7

Go to where you saved the Flash Video Downloader in my case “My Documents” the video should be there in “QuickTime Player”, right click on the video, click on “Open With” click on ITunes. Once you click on Itunes, the file will be transfer automatically to ITunes and you are done. Plug up your ipod and synchronize.

Tips & Warnings
  • Besides You Tube, you can download from other sites, but there is a fee for those other sites. Check the end user agreement for more information.
  • If you have children supervise the downloads.
  • Let me know how it worked out.
