Use the Internet to Choose a College Major

Are you considering going to college but aren't sure what to major in? Follow these steps to choose a college major.

Step 1

Go to any college or university website. If you already know what school you will be attending, that is the only website you need to visit.
Step 2

Find the academic section of the college or university website. Here you will be able to access the different schools of study and the degrees offered.
Step 3

Select some degrees that you might be considering. Explore further to see what courses are required for those degree programs.
Step 4

Now you are getting into the nitty gritty of the degree or major. Examine the courses carefully. Read the course descriptions. Do they sound interesting to you? Is this something you can see yourself spending several years thinking about, reading about, and studying?
Step 5

If the answer to the questions in Step 4 is 'no' then you'll want to keep exploring. If, however, you've found the course descriptions interesting you may have found something you'll want to consider majoring in.
