Did you know that there are a couple of simple steps that will help preserve your sour cream even after you've opened it? Check out my easy how-to article!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sour cream
  • Spoon
  1. Step 1

When you prepare to open your sour cream for the first time, be sure to remove the plastic sealed cover beneath the lid and discard. Keeping this cover creates unnecessary condensation.

  2. Step 2

Use a spoon to thoroughly stir your sour cream and make sure that all of the contents of the container are mixed together well.

  3. Step 3

Use whatever sour cream you plan to use. Make sure that the next step is done with a spoon that either has only sour cream on it or is a clean spoon. Getting other food particles in the sour cream can cause it to not only become runny but to spoil quickly.

  4. Step 4

Use the back of the spoon to smooth the sour cream back down into a flat layer. Be sure to run the spoon along the sides of the container, getting all sour cream back into the bottom and having the top layered flat. Replace lid and return sour cream to refrigerator.
