For many people the hardest part of dating is initiating the conversation to get to know the person before asking them out on a date. The following tips will help you to initiate that first conversation and get your next date in the works.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure you have fresh breathe and your appearance is pleasing.

  2. Step 2

Breathe deeply. Don't be anxious and breath too heavily. Put your shoulders back, stand tall and even if you are unsure of yourself make sure that you don’t give off that vibe.

  3. Step 3

When you walk up to the person smile and let them know you are coming for a friendly conversation. Be polite when you start your conversation and always introduce yourself.

  4. Step 4

Make eye contact without being creepy. Make sure you give them the feeling of listening without overdoing it.

  5. Step 5

Don’t talk about your life story, your past heartache or rant about something that has happened to you. Ask them questions, but not overly personal questions.

  6. Step 6

Relax. This is the most crucial thing when it comes to initiation a conversation. If you are uncomfortable your will make the person you want to talk to uncomfortable. Just be yourself and act as if you have been friends for years.

  7. Step 7

Watch your manners. Don’t swear ever other word. Do not burp or pass gas. You need to get comfortable and be relaxed but not so much so that it becomes offensive.

Tips & Warnings
  • As with everything in life remember that even if you want to talk to a certain person they may not want to talk to you. It can be hard to take when someone doesn't want to interact with you but don't let it keep you from finding someone else to talk to.
