One of the greatest thing about Adobe Photoshop is the ability to customize your experience. You can use the presets already loaded, create your own, or download samples from other people and use them for your artwork. Creating a new brush in Adobe Photoshop is one of the simpler ways to customize your experience. All it takes a little time and patience to get the settings the way you want them.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open Adobe Photoshop and create a new file. Size and resolution is not important. Set the background color to white.

  2. Step 2

Go to "Window" and then "Brushes." Select the "Brush Tip Shape" option from the list on the left column.

  3. Step 3

On the right, scroll down until you find the shape brush you want. Select it and choose your diameter by moving the slider left or right. Notice the preview at the bottom, and how it changes with your options. You may also select spacing options and angle, which is especially helpful if you are using a special shape.

  4. Step 4

The next six selections in the left column allow you to customize them. When checked, you have the ability to select options for those columns. Go through each one and adjust the options until you are satisfied with the preview.

  5. Step 5

The next selections in a separate box on the left side allow you to turn them on or off only. Choose what you want.

  6. Step 6

When completed, choose the new option in the bottom right next to the trashcan. Name your brush. It will now appear in your brushes palette.
