How to Apply for EZ Pass in Maine
Anyone who has spent time sitting in the cash lane at the South Portland exit on the Maine Turnpike knows the importance of having an E-Z Pass tag. It not only saves money, but it saves time. The Maine Turnpike Authority has made it easy for residents to apply for an E-Z Pass device.

Determine what kind of account you want. The Maine Turnpike Authority offers two types of E-Z Pass accounts, personal and business. Personal accounts are limited to four tags per account and covers personal passenger cars, vans, SUVs, motorcycles and pickup trucks. Other vehicles must be registered under a business account.

Visit the Maine E-Z Pass Customer Service Center website to download appropriate forms. Be sure to download the Personal Account Instructions, Personal Account Application and Personal Account Terms & Conditions documents. These three documents provide the necessary information.

Complete the application and mail it to the Maine Turnpike Authority, Attention: E-Z Pass Customer Service Center, 430 Riverside St., Portland, ME 04103.

Call the E-Z Pass Customer Service Center at 1-888-682-7277 if you don’t have Internet access. They will mail the necessary forms to you so that you can apply for the E-Z Pass tag without having to use the Internet.

Check your account. Once you have a Maine E-Z Pass tag, you can go to the E-Z Pass website and check the status of your account and keep of your E-Z Pass balance.

Tips & Warnings
The Maine E-Z Pass website provides additional downloadable documents for EZ Pass users such as Class 1 Rate Chart, Commuter Rate Chart and Class 1 Cash/E-Z Pass Comparison Rate Chart which explains the amount of money saved by using the E-Z Pass device. Although these documents are not necessary, they do provide valuable information.
