How to Enjoy the Hard Rock Hotel, Orlando

Located on the Universal Studios property, the Hard Rock Hotel Orlando offers visitors a chance to live like a rock star during their vacation.       Make reservations for your visit. There are many choices of rooms and suites at the Hard Rock Hotel, depending on your needs. There are even suites that cater to kids or those people who what to stay in a room dedicated to Elvis. By far, one of the best values is the rooms located on the Hard Rock Club Level. Located on the 7th floor, these rooms are spacious, comfortable and offer many amenities. Some of these include free access to the fitness facilities, discounts and access to the Club 7 lounge. The lounge offers hot breakfast, an early evening cocktail hour with food and free wine/beer, and access to free DVD movies, newspapers and many other perks.

      Spend the day by the pool. The 12,000 square-foot pool is an impressive sight and a great place to spend the day. There are lounge chairs all around the pool and plenty of areas to escape the sun. Be sure to check out the pool side bar and the 260-foot water slide. There is even a kiddie pool for the little ones. If you're looking for a little privacy, rent one of the poolside cabanas and escape the paparazzi during your visit. These cabanas have a table and chairs, flat screen television, telephone, ceiling fan, lounge chairs with fluffy towels and an attendant to bring you drinks and food all day. If you want a bit more privacy, the cabanas have canvas sides that can be closed to the public.

      Have breakfast in The Kitchen. The Kitchen is a restaurant designed to make you feel like you're eating in a rock star's mansion. It has a very laid back atmosphere and is very kid-friendly. Check with the hotel concierge for a schedule of rock stars that occasionally show up to give a cooking demonstration and mingle with guests. Sunday morning brunch is a must see event. Make reservations to avoid missing out on a popular event.

      Enjoy dinner in the Palm Restaurant. This world class restaurant specializes in steak and lobster, and is sure to impress. The decor is definitely upscale and you'll feel like you're in a posh L.A. or New York eatery. This restaurant should be reserved for a night when you have someone to watch the kids and enjoy as a couple.

      Hang out in the Velvet Bar. Located just off the main lobby, the Velvet is a great place for a drink and some bar food. The bar is quite comfortable and you'll never know who you might see at the next table. Be sure to check the upcoming schedule for the Velvet Sessions, a monthly private concert and party hosted by the bar. For an additional fee, you'll get to see a major act in a very small room, have access to free food and drinks and get to rub elbows with some celebrities. The Go Gos' reunion show was amazing.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you stay on the Club level, you'll get a discount on your poolside cabana rental.

  • Be sure to check your pillow after the turn down service for a free gift nightly.

  • There is a compilation CD on the dresser, next to the CD player. It's yours and is usually a great mix of music.

  • Pick up bottled water in the Club 7 lounge before you head to the park, to avoid having to buy it there.

  • Ask about the float-in movies that they present poolside during the weekend.

  • Reserve cabanas prior to your visit. They sell out quickly.

  • Don't try to play the piano in the lobby. The concierge doesn't like this.

  • Parking is not free.
