Step 1
Earn your high school diploma. Courses required to earn a surgical tech degree include biology, chemistry, mathematics, and health.
-
Step 2
Choose an accredited college or school to begin your training. If you are living in Connecticut and prefer classroom training you will have to venture a short distance. The New England Institute of Technology located in Warwick, Rhode Island, will provide hands-on training and is less than an hour from Connecticut. You can also take advantage of the flexibility of Online Learning. A virtual classroom lets you learn when it is convenient for you, allowing you to work full time while you complete your education.
-
Step 3
Train with certified technologists after you complete your degree to prepare you for future certifications to obtain a CST (certified surgical technician) designation.
-
Step 4
Complete a surgical technician program and master the skills needed by a tech, and you can now look for a job. The 18 to 24 months will be a worthwhile investment in earning a high salary with the added satisfaction of helping save lives.
