How to Prevent Broken Arm Casts From Snagging Fabrics
Casts protect broken bones from further injury and help make sure that breaks heal completely and properly. On the downside, they are also made of scratchy, rigid outer materials that can easily snag on fabrics and can even scratch your skin. If you or someone you know is struggling because of an arm cast that keeps snagging on things, it's worth your time to try this easy solution.

1
Buy several cheap tube socks. Dollar stores and other bargain stores are great places to look for tube socks, and you can often buy packs of six or more pairs for just a few dollars. Don't hesitate to stock up on a dozen pairs or so if they are cheap enough as it will be well worth the hoarding.
-
2
Use a pair of scissors to cut the toe end off of each sock.

3
To ensure the best fit, place each sock over your arm cast one at a time. When a sock is fitted over the cast and arranged the way you like, use a felt tip marker to draw a shape on the sock around the thumb hole of the cast. Repeat this on each sock.

4
Cut out the holes you traced in step three with the pair of scissors.

5
Slip a modified tube sock over your cast. It will no longer snag on fabrics. You can change the sock every day, and you can wash the worn socks with your regular laundry.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to get creative, you can dye or even tie dye the socks different colors.
You can also decorate the socks with markers and have your friends sign them.
If you decorate your socks with markers, wash them separately. The marker may stain other clothes in the same load.
Designs made in washable markers may wash out completely in the laundry.
