Instructions

    • 1

Store slivers of soap. When your next bar of soap reaches an unusably small size, let it dry completely in the soap dish. When it's totally dry, place it in a plastic zip-top bag and seal it. Keep the bag in a designated space where you'll remember to add to it as you collect more soap slivers.

    • 2

Continue collecting soap in this fashion until you have at least a half dozen slivers. Make sure that the slivers are completely dry before sealing them in the bag, otherwise you might encourage mold or mildew to develop inside.

    • 3

Gather slivers for blending. When you have enough slivers, dump them into your blender. Pour in just a tiny bit of water, and then blend the soap on a medium setting for about 20 seconds.

    • 4

Add more water a little at a time as needed to achieve a smooth, creamy consistency. Blend the mixture for about twenty seconds, after each added dose of water. Only add water in small amounts so that you don't dilute the soap too much.

    • 5

Blend thoroughly. When the soap is of a satisfactory consistency, empty it into a clean, empty plastic squeeze or pump bottle. Leftover bottles of store-bought liquid hand soap work best. Place the freshly filled bottle near a sink and enjoy a decadent, recycled liquid hand soap.

Tips & Warnings

  • If all of the soap you use is unscented, you can add scents to your liquid soap by adding a few drops of your favorite flavoring extract to the blender.
