1
Check the price of the teeth whitener. While it's certainly not imperative to purchase the most expensive brand, the cheapest isn't likely to work as well as those more moderately priced.
-
2
Choose your whitener based on the severity of your tooth discoloration. Different whiteners come in different forms. Whitening toothpastes are good for helping to maintain whitened teeth, but do very little in the way of actual whitening. The most popular form of teeth whitener involves a gel made of a percentage of hydrogen peroxide. The gel is squeezed into plastic mouth pieces, much like football players wear to protect their teeth. Follow package directions closely, and remove after the specified time.

Try whitening strips at your pharmacy before attempting pricier options. The most popular and economical method of teeth whitening comes in the form of plastic strips that are worn on the upper and lower teeth for a specified amount of time. The strips are affixed with a hydrogen peroxide gel solution and adhere very easily to the teeth. While this method isn't the fastest, it's very moderately priced. Teeth are typically noticeably whiter in just a few days. The added convenience of these strips is that touch ups are simple and convenient.
