Draw a Simple Flower

Most everyone loves flowers. Dainty, delicate, fragrant, and romantic; flowers make many people happy. Flowers can be grown to win prizes, grown to become gifts, or grown to add ambiance to the backyard. Flowers help trigger memories. Roses scream romance and desire, while daisies shout out innocence and youth. Anyone can draw these flowers and use them to add emotions to their own artwork.

Instructions

  1. Drawing a Rose

    • 1

      Draw a small circle.

    • 2

Split the circle in half with a wavy line.

    • 3

Add three half circles around the outside of the small circle.

    • 4

Repeat step 3, connecting the different half circles with more half circles.

    • 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach the desired fullness.

    • 6

Add curly tendrils behind the rose petals. These tendrils should radiate out. Tendrils are created by drawing and connecting two wavy lines next to each other. Create leaves that radiate out from the rose.

    • 7

Color the rose if you would like.

    Drawing Shasta Daisies

    • 8

      Draw a small circle.

    • 9

Add petals that radiate out from the small circle. Petals are drawn using long, elongated ovals. The first row of petals occupy the North, South, East, and West sections, splitting the daisy into quadrants.

    • 10

Add more petals to the centers of the daisy quadrants.

    • 11

Add more petals in between all petals you've drawn in steps 3 and 4 until you have reached the desired fullness.

    • 12

Draw a leaf. The leaf is a teardrop shape with the fat end of the teardrop facing the flower. Add veins.

Tips & Warnings

  • Think of a compass when drawing a shasta daisy. You should have the petals pointing in all directions.
