Things You'll Need:

  • Transportation to Copenhagen, Denmark
  1. Step 1

Visit The Little Mermaid (Den Lille Havfrue). The Little Mermaid statue, constructed in 1913 by Edward Eriksen, is Copenhagen's official emblem. The statue is based on the famed Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales "The Little Mermaid." This is a beautiful, charming statue and a great way to introduce yourself to Copenhagen as a city.

  2. Step 2

Stop by Tivoli. Right by the Town Hall Square, you will come across the enchanting, world famous Tivoli Amusement Park. This is an exciting place for tourists, with rides, gardens, open air theaters, concert halls and many, many more exciting attractions. Tivoli epitomizes the essence and spirit of Denmark as a whole. Kids and adults both will enjoy Tivoli.

  3. Step 3

Go to Rosenborg Palace. This sprawling summer palace was built in the 1600s by Christian IV. It has been open to the public as a museum since 1833. If you go inside the palace, you will see the private collections of notable Danish royalty, including sculptures, paintings and furniture. Be sure to check out the exquisite Marble Room, which is a Baroque reception room.

  4. Step 4

Stroll through the Botanic Garden (Botanisk Have). This is an exquisite, serene garden located right in the center of Copenhagen. The park was based on remains of fortification. Notable parts of the garden include the Botanic and Geologic Museums and the Cacti and Orchid greenhouses.

  5. Step 5

Check out the Museum of Applied Art. This museum has been in existence since 1890, and has an extensive collection of European applied art from the Middle Ages to the modern day. The main focus of the museum is on domestic items, like porcelain, carpet, porcelain and ceramics. There is also a good selection of contemporary and modern Danish art.
