How to Use Adobe ConnectNow for Real Time Meetings

While there are many online meeting rooms, why not try Adobe ConnectNow? This web-based meeting resource is free, and you get your own personal URL. All of this is backed by Adobe, inventors of the PDF file, so you know that you are getting a powerful tool backed by some of the biggest names in software around.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Adobe ConnectNow website and click on the "Sign Up Now" button.

    • 2

You should now be at the Acrobat website. Click the "Sign Up" button again and fill out the form. An email will be sent to verify your account.

    • 3

When you get the email, click on the URL and you will be taken back to the page. After you receive the message that your email was verified, click on the "Sign In" button and enter your info.

    • 4

Click on "ConnectNow." This will take you to the main page.

    • 5

A box will pop up once the page loads, giving you your permanent URL. Write this down, as it never changes. You can send email invitations from here to invite others to your meeting.

    • 6

Take a look at the layout of the screen. Up top you have three menus: "Meeting," "Pods" and "Help." With the "Meeting" menu, you can invite others, upload a file, share your screen or web cam, and end the meeting. The first four icons to the right of the "Help" menu can help with this too. The "Pods" menu lets you customize what you see on the screen. "Help" is self-explanatory. To the right of the "Help" menu, there is also a telephone icon that lets you set up phone conferencing. It will give you all the info you need to have someone call in just like a regular conference call.

    • 7

Click the "Share My Computer Screen" button in the middle of the page, and you will no longer see the whole box, but have a small menu box on the left that looks similar to IM. You can use the features on here to chat, annotate and more. You can also give someone control of your desktop if necessary that works great if doing tech support.

  • This software works with the Flash Player, and there may be a small download necessary the first time you use it.
