Things You'll Need:
- Cardboard train ticket
- Mod Podge
- Scrapbook paper
- Scissors
- Ruler
-
Step 1
Choose a piece of scrap booking paper that you like and measure your ticket. If you don’t have any scrap booking paper you can use any other type of paper from a page in a magazine to a piece of wrapping paper.
-
Step 2
Trace your ticket twice onto the back of your paper and cut it out. Instead of just tracing it exactly, add an extra inch or so to the measurement. The extra inch adds room to apply the paper so you don’t have to worry about placing it exactly in line with the edges of the ticket. You can always trim the paper later. After you have traced, you can cut the pieces out.
-
Step 3
Apply a thin coat of Mod Podge to one side of the train ticket. Make sure to get the corners as well so it won’t peel later on. Take one piece of paper that you cut and place it on the side of the ticket that you applied the glue. Smooth down the paper so that there are no bumps or wrinkles. Follow the same instructions for the opposite side of the ticket as well.
-
Step 4
Decide if you want to add any embellishments. If you want to add something flat, such as stickers or inspiring words cut out of magazines, now is the time to do it. If you want to add any embellishment that is not flat, such as rhinestones, you can apply it later on.
-
Step 5
Cut the new bookmark to size. You can do it now so that when you apply the Mod Podge in the next step, you can seal the edges a bit more so they don’t peel up.
-
Step 6
Apply another thin coat of Mod Podge. Avoid touching the surface at all. Your best bet is to hold it on the edges so your fingerprints don’t make a mark on the surface. Make sure to apply only a very thin layer. If you have applied any flat embellishments, put a thin layer of the Mod Podge over them as well. Let the one side dry thoroughly before you apply the Mod Podge to the other side.
-
Step 7
Add any non-flat embellishments if you have any.
