How to Make a Turkey Hat for Thanksgiving
This craft is great to do with your kids or for teachers to do with their students to get ready for the Thanksgiving holiday. It requires only a few sheets of construction paper and a pair of googly eyes. Once it is created, kids can wear it for the rest of the day to continue to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Children can even save the hat and wear it at Thanksgiving dinner. It would make for some great pictures. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Construction paper (red, orange, yellow and brown)
- Tape
- Scissors
- Glue
- Googly eyes

Cut out a strip of brown construction paper to form your hat. This strip should be 2 inches wide and as long as your head. Cut the strip and then place it around your head. Tape it together where it begins to overlap. If the strip isn't long enough, cut two strips and tape them together.

Cut out a round circle from the brown construction paper. This is the turkey's face. Glue two googly eyes at the top.

Cut out a small triangle from some orange construction paper. This is the turkey's beak. Paste it on with the tip facing down.

Cut out a squiggle oval from the red construction paper. This is the turkey's wattle. Paste it on just below the beak. Now glue the whole head onto the front of the hat band.

Cut out five long ovals from red, orange and yellow construction paper. These are your turkey's feathers. Organize them any way you want in the back of the hat band. Glue them to the hat band.

Cut out some feet from yellow construction paper. The feet should have a thin, small rectangle that opens up into three small triangles. Glue one foot to each side of the hat band.

Wait for the glue to dry and wear.
