Instructions

    • 1

Go outside and gather leaves of different colors and sizes. Also pick up some acorns. If you don't have any in your yard, try the nearest park. Make it a fun scavenger hunt and take the nature trail.

    • 2

Gather about three toilet paper rolls. Paint them light brown like logs and add some details with darker brown, black and gray paint. Make some knots like you would find in trees or some bark marks. Let the toilet paper rolls dry.

    • 3

Get some nature magazines and find two pictures of squirrels. Photocopy a reverse image of each squirrel with your color printer so that your squirrel can have two sides. Glue the two sides together. To make it stronger, cut a piece of construction paper and paste it in the middle.

    • 4

Find a game like Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders that has a bottom game piece holder. This is the plastic piece that you stick the player piece in so that it stands up. You need two of them. Stick your squirrel piece in it so that your squirrel can stand up.

    • 5

Assemble your squirrels and logs on a decorative plate. Add some leaves on the bottom of the plate. Place acorns all around. Finally, have some real nuts that your guests can eat inside of the logs and flowing out of the logs. This scene is perfect for the fall season, and the nuts won't spoil anyone's appetite.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place a nutcracker on the side of the decorative plate.

  • Make sure none of your Thanksgiving guests have any allergies to nuts.
