Dye is a soluble substance that is used for staining or coloring. It is used as a food coloring and is often found in hair to dye it a different color. Dye can get places that you don't want it to be, and it is very difficult to remove from something once it has touched it. Removing dye from leather is similar to removing any other stain from leather, and with a little persistence it can be taken out of the leather in no time.

Step 1

Locate the dye on the leather and pour leather polish on top of it. Allow it 10 minutes to sink in. Dry the surface of the leather with a clean rag. Check to see if the stain still remains.

Step 3

Mix one part white vinegar with one part water in a bowl. Mix it thoroughly with a spoon. Dip a small piece of cloth into the mix and gently cover the dye with the solution.

Step 4

Dab the dye until the stain begins to draw out from the leather. Press a clean rag over the area so it will dry quicker. Check the area to see if the dye still remains. If so, move on to the next step.

Step 5

Spray LTT Maxi Cleaner on the area. Give it 30 minutes to properly soak in, and wipe the area clean with a rag. Make sure all of the dye is removed. If dye still remains in the leather, call a technician, who will have much stronger products to help with the removal of the dye.
