Seattle is a Pacific Northwestern city that is mostly associated with almost nonstop rainy weather, coffeehouses and the grunge rock movement of the 1990s. However, it's also a very vibrant and exciting city for tourists to visit, with many diverse attractions available. Go to the Space Needle. The Space Needle is a major landmark and probably the most recognizable symbol of Seattle. Built for the World Fair in 1962, it is a highly impressive architectural specimen. Visitors can go up to the observation deck and get a magnificent bird's-eye view of Seattle from 520 feet up. Not only can you see downtown Seattle from the observation deck, but the Cascade Mountains and Elliott Bay are clearly visible as well.

Check out the Museum of Flight in Tukwila, just south of downtown Seattle. This is an extensive air and space museum focusing heavily on aircrafts. There are more than 80 airplanes available here, including Aerocars and the first presidential jet.

Spend the afternoon at the Woodland Park Zoo. Located in Seattle's Green Lake section, this is a beautiful zoological garden that is home to a large amount of animals (especially birds), trees and plants. The Tropical Rainforest exhibit is particularly astonishing, with the jaguar habitat being particularly intriguing. This is a large and extensive zoo that gets more than 1 million visitors every year.

Stroll though Pike Place Market. Overlooking Elliott Bay, Pike Place Market is an extraordinarily popular public farmer's market. A lot of local farmers, craftspeople and merchants sell their unique products here. One of the most interesting parts of Pike Place Market is the Fish Market, where you can witness fishmongers throwing fish at each other.

Sip on an an iced latte at the original Starbucks coffee shop. Though it may be hard to believe now that it's an international corporation with thousands of stores internationally, Starbucks was once a local store. The first Starbucks opened on Pike Place Market in Seattle in 1971 and remains there today.
