How to Remove a Stuck Ring on a Finger
Because water-retention levels in humans can vary wildly throughout any given day, fingers can become swollen with little warning. Sometimes this can lead to rings getting stuck. Trying to simply force a ring off of a swollen finger can be dangerous and painful. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Try to push one end of a piece of strong string underneath the ring so that it comes through on the other side. If the ring is on so tightly that you can't do this with just your fingers, use a popsicle stick to try and push it through.
-
2
Once the string is under the ring, pull the end that is closest to your fingertip. Pull the string through in this direction until there is only about 3 inches of string left on the other side of the ring.
-
-
3
Hold the longer portion of the string and begin to wind it tightly around your finger, starting directly above the ring. As you wind the string around, make sure that the coils are touching each other so as to compress the finger without creating any bulges in between the coils.
-
4
Continue winding the string tightly all the way up to the first knuckle.
-
5
When you reach the first knuckle with the string, stop winding. Press your finger onto a flat surface to hold the loose end of the string in place and keep the string tight.
-
6
Use your free hand to gently slide the ring forward using your free hand. If your finger is compressed tightly enough, the ring should slide right off over the string.
-
7
Quickly unwind and remove the string.

Tips & Warnings
If you try this technique and find that you just need a little more room to get the ring off, soak the hand in ice water for about five minutes. Then quickly dry the hand and attempt the procedure again.
Compressing a finger with string in this fashion can temporarily interrupt circulation to the finger, so this process should be completed quickly. Don't leave the string wrapped tightly around your finger for more than two minutes.
