Step 1
Prep your face by cleansing and moisturizing. After your moisturizer has absorbed into your skin, smooth on a makeup primer for makeup application as close to flawless as possible.
-
Step 2
Use a foundation with at least medium coverage to give yourself that Old Hollywood perfect finish. If necessary, apply undereye concealer and spot camouflage. Apply eye makeup primer for long-wearing eyeshadow.
-
Step 3
Groom eyebrows. Fill brows in with a brow pencil or powder to define them and get rid of sparseness between hairs. You don't need thin brows, just clean ones with no strays underneath or between your brow line. You may trim brows to eliminate scraggly hairs, or keep them long but immaculate by using a clear brow gel. Pinup eyebrows are particularly well-defined, with the focus on a strong arch. Keep them natural by stroking in the color with feather-soft motions.
-
Step 4
Apply a flesh tone matte shadow from the lash line all the way to the brow bone. You can use one that is a notch or two lighter than your coloring to brighten up your eyes. On the crease, a rosy fall color such as a deep berry or mauve in a matte formulation is ideal. Soften the color with an eyeshadow blending brush to erase any hard and unnatural edges. On browbones, dab on a highlighter with the barest amount of shimmer to keep it subtle.
-
Step 5
Line top lash lines not with black, but with a deep brown or a color like a very deep plum or mauve to go with your eyeshadow crease color if you prefer. Use a damp angled eyeliner brush to apply the product in cake or powder form. When it is wet, the color appears to be much more vivid. The line should gradually get thicker from the middle of the eye outwards, with a wing at the end for vintage cat's eye glamour. For balance, use a soft-haired eyeliner brush to lightly smudge the color dry onto the outer two-thirds of your lower lash lines. Blend any hard edges away.
-
Step 6
Curl your eyelashes and apply fake strip lashes to your top lash lines. Use a black mascara to join the fake hairs to your natural ones.
-
Step 7
Match the tone of your blush to your crease eyeshadow. You want rosy cheeks in the typical pinup fashion, but using a blush color appropriate for fall. Apply the product on the apples of your cheeks with a fluffy blush brush. Clean up any obvious lines or streaks with a makeup sponge. You want a slightly exaggerated pop of color that gives the impression you are flushed or just came in from a brisk walk in the cold.
-
Step 8
Cover your lips with foundation to create a bare canvas. Match the tone of your lip color to your blush and feel free to go a notch deeper. A highly pigmented lipstick is what gives you the pinup style. Line and fill your lips in first with a lip pencil the same color as your lipstick before layering on the lipstick with a lip brush. Now you've given your look the flavor of fall with the appropriate colors. Usually, pinup lipstick is a shade of red, but make use of a deep berry or mauve perfect for autumn.
