Step 1
Save your children's sports T-shirts and uniforms.
-
Step 2
Cut the front or back of the uniform T-shirt that has the number or logo on it. Make sure to cut the same sized square each time, using as much of the shirt as you possibly can, to attain the widest patch of shirt color.
-
Step 3
Sew the shirts to each other by turning over each potential row and first sewing the connecting sides of each shirts to its neighboring shirt. Once you have a whole row, sew the top of one whole row to the bottom of the next row. Iron the connected rows after you've finished sewing to flatten out the seams. Turn it over and you'll have a quilt block top.
-
Step 4
Continue adding rows of shirts as your kids grow and try new sports. Don't put a backing on the quilt until you're sure your kids are done joining new team sports.
-
Step 5
Attach the backing by sewing the backing and the quilt together (both wrong sides facing out) on three sides. Turn right side out and sew the remaining side. Now you have a new blanket and conversation piece for any rooom in the house.
