How to Repurpose Old Curtains
Many people today are trying to do their part to preserve Mother Earth. One of the most important steps toward achieving that goal is becoming more cognizant of the trash to which we expose the planet. Consequently, we can reuse items that we once tossed away without a second thought. While sometimes the items are given to thrift shops, other times they can be repurposed into something different.

Instructions

1
Disguise a small open closet office with curtains hung on a tension rod between the two door jambs. Make sure the curtains can be pulled out of the way for easy access to the office space.
-
2
Turn the curtains into an outside shower curtain that splits in the center. Line the inside with a plastic shower curtain liner to protect the fabric. Finish off the new creation with fringe, beading or other trim as desired.
-
3
Use the curtains in a child’s playroom. Make a tent out of them for children to share with their friends. Use them to create a stage area for young musicians, singers or actors or as temporary bedding for foldout chair beds.
-
4
Drape curtains over boxes, wood or other household items to create temporary furniture pieces like dressers, nightstands or coffee tables.
-
5
Develop a vanity skirt out of old curtains to cover open storage, equipment, supplies or trash.
-
6
Make a tablecloth or table topper out of a beautiful curtain fabric. Cut as needed and leave as is, sew back or trim edges with beading, braid or other trim.
-
7
Cut luxurious fabric curtains to make furniture covers, throws, toss pillows and scarves to decorate any room in the home. Use sheer curtain panels as scarves or curtain toppers.
-
8
Make place mats out of heavy curtains. Line with batting or other heavyweight material or back with felt or foam. Use the remaining fabric, unlined, to make matching napkins or a table runner.
-
9
Use pieces of the curtain as trim to make handmade decorative towels. Sew on by hand or machine and trim with braid or beading if desired.
-
10
Cover the fabric on dining chairs with curtain fabric that matches other accents in the room.
