Make a Berry and Poppy Fall Wreath

This wreath blends well with a rustic, fall-themed decor. The orange poppies make this floral design especially appropriate for autumn. It takes less than 30 minutes to make and can be hanging on your wall in less than an hour. These wreaths also make good candle rings and look lovely when hung in groups on an outdoor wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Hot glue gun
  • Grapevine wreath
  • Artificial orange poppies
  • Burgundy berry picks
  • Wire
  • Pinecones

Instructions

    • 1

Attach one or more small pinecones to the bottom of the grapevine wreath using wire. Arrange them in a line directly at the bottom of the circle of grapevines, or leaning to one side in line with the curve of the wreath.

    • 2

Stick the berry picks into the wreath. Dark red, deep purple or burgundy berries look best in contrast with the colors of poppies. Use berry picks that already contain pine cones and greenery to make assembly even easier. The pointed sticks should fit between the pieces of grapevine and hold securely. If they slide, use the glue gun to fix them in place.

    • 3

Cut the stems off the artificial poppies. This makes the backs flatter and easier to glue into place. Leave just enough stem that the petals do not fall out of the plastic flower bottom.

    • 4

Glue the poppies onto the grapevine frame. Use at least two flowers interspersed with the pine cones. Do not turn the wreath into a flower wreath, however. Keep the poppies as accents rather than the main event. The larger the wreath, the more flowers you can use.

    • 5

Let the glue dry for at least 10 minutes. Because the glue used in hot glue guns dries very quickly, you should be able to hang your wreath within 10 minutes of completion. Use a brightly colored fall ribbon to hang your wreath or just hang it on a nail.

Tips & Warnings

  • Making several of these wreaths in different sizes results in an interesting wall display.
