Step 1
Buy from Amazon.com. Amazon lists new and used DVDs. They generally offer a discount on new DVDs and sell used DVDs very cheap. You can also find many coupons online for Amazon.com. They also offer free shipping on orders of $25 or more at various times throughout the year.
-
Step 2
Half.com. Half.com is a giant online yard sale. You can buy new and used DVDs from members for next to nothing. The DVDs come in various conditions, from “Acceptable,” which means the DVD looks used and may have some minor damage to the case, to “Brand New,” which means the DVD is still shrink-wrapped.
-
Step 3
Use Ebay. Much like Half.com, Ebay allows you to buy new and used DVDs cheap from sellers. You can either buy the DVD in auction format (which is usually the best way to get the cheapest price) or you can buy your DVDs by clicking, “Buy It Now.” The "Buy It Now' price will be higher, you are guaranteed to get the item.
-
Step 4
Go to flea markets and yard sales. You may find mostly used DVDs, but you will also find some new DVDs. At flea markets and yard sales, you get the added benefit of haggling with the seller!
-
Step 5
Shop in thrift stores. Thrift stores offer a surprising amount of DVDs these days. When buying from a thrift store, be prepared for the DVD area to be disorganized, so you will most likely have to spend some time searching for what you want.. Thrift-store proceeds generally benefit charity, so your purchase is philanthropic.
-
Step 6
Join a mail-order DVD club. DVD clubs like Columbia House can be good resources for buying DVDs cheap. You will get several free or highly discounted titles as an introduction to the club and will get catalogs filled with cheap DVD selections. You will be obligated to purchase a certain amount of DVDs at full price during the course of your membership.

Step 7
Buy used DVDs from Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, and/or Netflix. Many rental places sell their used DVDs very cheaply.
