- Fresh lemons or limes (small)
- Hand lime squeezer
- Container for the juice
- Cutting board

Purchase fresh ripe limes or small lemons. Keep in mind the size of the squeezer. They come in multiple sizes so if you squeeze more lemons than limes, you might want to purchase the bigger one. Look for fruit that will fit comfortably in the diameter of the concave section of the squeezer. The more fragrant and soft the fruit, the more juice it gives.

Wash and prepare the limes. Wash limes thoroughly to remove any pesticides or residue that can be transfered during the squeezing process. Place the limes on a cutting board and with a sharp knife, cut the limes in half.

Squeeze the lime. Placing the squeezer over a receptacle to catch the juice. With one hand, squeeze the two halves of the squeezer together and watch as the juice empties into the container. With this method, it is easy to squeeze many limes or lemons rapidly without wasting any juice.

Use ripe limes. Ripe fruit will smell stronger than unripe fruit.
