How to Modify a Template Using Microsoft Word 2002

Templates store items that make up the basics of a Word document. When you create new documents, the text and styles are copied into the template. The template remains attached to the document so that the document can have access to the items contained in the template. You can use Word to modify your templates in the same way that you modify your documents.

Open your Word program. Click the menu bar and choose “File,” then “Open.” This opens the “Open” dialog box. In the dialog box, click the drop down arrow next to “Files of type.” Choose “Document Templates” in the files list.
