The nice thing about paper plate flower baskets is that they can be made by children or adults. In addition, the paper crafts project may serve as a birthday gift for a mom, a sister, a grandmother, or an aunt. The paper craft may also be used as a unique children's birthday party invitation that can be delivered in person. The following steps will guide you in making your first paper plate flower basket.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Two paper plates
  • Stapler
  • Tissue paper in pretty colors
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Strip of Ribbon
  • Paint or crayons
  • Hole punch
  1. Step 1

Decorate the bottom half of one paper plate and the top of another plate. An adult may draw a line down the middle of each plate. The paper plates may be decorated with poster paints, crayons, markers, or stickers.

  2. Step 2

Cut one paper plate in half. Keep the decorated half. Attach the plate half to the other plate. The decorated side should be facing you. Use the stapler or glue to attach just the edges of the paper plate to the whole paper plate.

  3. Step 3

Crumple up a couple of squares of tissue paper. Poke a pipe cleaner through the center of the tissue paper sheets. Fold the end of the pipe cleaner over. Unfold the layers of tissue paper to reveal a flower.

  4. Step 4

Make at least a half dozen tissue paper flowers and insert them into the paper plate pocket to fill up the flower basket. Use a variety of colors and color combinations to make the tissue paper flowers.

  5. Step 5

Punch two holes in the top of the basket. Thread the ribbon through the front of the hole. Tie a knot in the back. Repeat for the other side of the ribbon. Hang the paper plate flower basket.
