Mining is fun and very lucrative. If you are a miner and a blacksmith or a miner and an engineer, you can use what you mine to level up your other occupations. If you are just a collector, you can mine and smelt and sell what you mine to make a extra money. No matter how you like to play the game, mining is a plus.

      Become a miner. To become a miner you have to visit a Mining trainer. Mining trainers can be found at any major city or by asking guards for directions to them. Once you have become a miner you can begin to mine.

      Buy a Mining Pick. You need a mining pick to mine so visit a general supplies or mining supplies vendor, an auction house or trade with another player. Mining picks are cheap so buying them from a vendor is the easiest option.

      Level up your mining skills. When you first start as a miner you cannot mine for tin until you reach a skill level of 65. To level up mine copper veins for copper ore and smelt the copper ore into copper bars. Once you've reached a 65 skill level on mining you are ready to mine for tin.

      Re-visit the Mining trainer. At skill level 65 in mining you are ready to learn how to smelt tin. You don't need to know how to smelt tin to mine tin but it is useful. You will also be ready to go up to journeyman miner which will allow you a 100 yards range in finding and mining mineral veins.

      Go to the second higher up leveling area. Where you begin your career in World of Warcraft is the lowest level area. You usually won't find anything other than copper veins if anything at all. When you are at about level 9 or 10 you will receive quests that take you to the next level area. This is usually where you will find some tin but still rarely. If you really want to find tin, you have to go up to at least level 15 and that next leveling area. An example of this is the eastern shore of Loch Modan or Silverpine Forrest.

      Use the "find minerals" option. At this point you should know how to do this but if you don't, simply open up your spell book, click on the find minerals box and your search options on the mini-map will change to searching for minerals. This search option puts mineral veins in your mini-map.

      Find and Mine Tin Ore. Walk around mountains and hills until you see the gold coins that represent mineral veins on your mini-map. Go to the place and see if its tin. If it isn't mine it anyway it will come in handy. To mine Tin simply right click on a tin vein and your character will automatically mine the tin. Mining is like looting, once the vein has been mined a box will show up with the items that have been found right click on the items you want to keep.

Tips & Warnings

  • You need Tin and Copper to make Bronze so mine away.

  • The lower level you are, the harder it will be to mine higher level ore so level up your character in both skills and experience.
