How to Make a Thankful Turkey Craft

Thankful turkey crafts make great Thanksgiving placemats, and can let your family know just what you are thankful for. You can have everyone in the family make their own, swap them, and laminate them to make fun thankfulness placemats. You can also have your child make one and simply display it on the fridge or other area of the home.

Things You'll Need

• Dark brown construction paper
• Light brown construction paper
• Red construction paper
• Orange construction paper
• Yellow construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue
• A black marker or crayons

Instructions

1. Cut a circle out of the dark brown construction paper that is about 8 to 10-inches wide. This will be the body of your turkey, and the more feathers you want on your turkey the bigger it needs to be.

2. Trace and cut out a smaller circle about 3-inches across from the light brown construction paper.

3. Use scissors to cut out a rectangle from the light brown construction paper. It should be about 4-inches tall and 2-inches wide.

4. Glue the rectangle to the bottom of your large dark brown circle. This rectangle will serve as the turkey's neck.

5. Use glue to attach the small light brown circle to the top of the light brown rectangle, this will be your turkey's head.

6. Cut 5 to 6 thin oval shaped feathers out of orange, yellow, and red construction paper. These will be the feathers and thankful cards of your turkey craft.

7. Using a marker or crayons, write one thing that you are thankful for on each of the feathers.

8. Glue the feathers to the large dark brown circle. These will be placed on the body of your turkey.

• Use pictures instead of words on the feathers to show who or what you are thankful for.
