Cleopatra, probably the most famous queen of Egypt, has been illustrated in artwork and movies in all sorts of eclectic ways. The most common version in modern times was made famous by the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor. With a few odds and ends, you can make a stunning Cleopatra costume that is easy and comfortable to wear. Remember, as you finish your costume, to go out with a diva attitude. Cleopatra was known to be witty and very head strong!

Things You'll Need

  • White scarf
  • Gold fashion necklace
  • 5 Pairs Gold, Dangling Earrings
  • Blue eye shadow
  • Black eyeliner
  • Dark Lipstick
  • Gold cuffs
  • Gold bangles
  • Long skirt
  • Sandals
  • Gold belt

Instructions

      Fit the necklace to fit your head. You will probably need to use 2 or 3 bobby pins to secure it. Place the golden earrings evenly apart all along the necklace. Put one right in the center of the forehead if the earring is not too big.

      Wrap the scarf around your torso any way you want. This is an Egyptian fashion. Make sure you are wearing a tan or white tank top before you do this. Pin or tie the scarf in place. Put the gold belt around your waist.

      Put on some accessories. Gold bangles work best with this outfit. Anything gold and funky that you have lying around your home can be a substitution if you are in an extreme hurry with the costume.

      Follow the eye makeup of ancient Egypt!

      Put on your makeup! Put on your eye shadow and eyeliner. Make sure that you create a very dramatic Egyptian style cat eye with your eyeliner. Study the photograph for a perfect example and design of the makeup look that you are going for. Improvise on this step to what is most flattering for you.

      Slip your skirt and sandals on. Add any last minute touches you may desire, and you are ready to be Cleopatra!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you can get a black wig (shoulder length and with bangs), it will make your costume look more authentic!

  • Make sure you are wearing a top underneath the scarf. You don't want any wardrobe malfunctions.
