Sea salt is one of the best exfoliants you can use for your body. The coarse grains work to improve circulation and slough off dead skin from the body's surface, leaving it healthy and soft. The sea salt also helps promote the body's natural secretion of healthy oils, relieving dry and flaky skin. Sea salt can be found in almost every retail store, as well as the grocery store. To make your own salt scrub for additional moisturizing, you can add a body oil infused with an herb such as lavender or even mint.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups sea salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Large mixing bowl
  1. Step 1

Place 2 cups of coarse sea salt into a large mixing bowl, and then add the 1/4 cup of water. This adds moisture to the salt so that it can be rubbed onto the body.

  2. Step 2

Fill the tub with enough water to reach the ankles. Get inside and wet the body slightly and begin to apply the salt scrub. Starting with the arms, apply the salt scrub and rub in a circular motion.

  3. Step 3

Work your way down the body, paying extra attention to rough or dry spots. This can help exfoliate the skin and allow new skin to emerge.

  4. Step 4

Relax in the shower or tub once the entire body has been exfoliated with salt.

  5. Step 5

Rinse after 10 to 15 minutes with a warm shower, and pat dry. Apply moisturizer to the body to keep it soft and hydrated.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can add 5 drops of your favorite essential oil for increased benefit and relaxation.
  • Use almond or olive oil instead of water for a rich and moisturizing salt scrub.
  • Do not apply the sea salt to the face, or anywhere on the body that has cuts or irritations.
