How to Generate Page Views on Associated Content

Associated Content is a website that pays people to write. There is a small upfront payment for some articles. You can make even more money by generating page views for the site. This performance bonus on some articles can dramatically exceed the upfront pay. In exceptional cases, you can get hundreds of dollars for a single article. The key to generating page views on Associated Content is to write on topics that attract a lot of traffic and to optimize keywords for search engines.

Instructions

    • 1

Sign up for an Associated Content account if you have not already done so.

    • 2

Check resources such as the Yahoo! Buzz Index, AOL Hot Searches and Google AdWords tool to find out what people are searching for. Look specifically for keywords that are generating a lot of traffic. Choose three to four keywords to focus on in each article you intend to write.

    • 3

Write the title. Make sure that those keywords stand out in your title. When possible, write high traffic keywords first and put low-traffic, descriptive keywords at the end. A good example is, "Sexy Halloween Costumes You Can Make Yourself." This increases your search engine ranking because the first few words of your title become part of the page URL.

    • 4

Write the first paragraph of the article so that the keywords you've chosen figure prominently in the first hundred words. The closer the keywords are to the beginning of the article, the better.

    • 5

Optimize the remainder of the text as you write. Work to include your keywords in the article in places where they seem natural and proper. Use subheaders, the "Did You Know?" box and an image caption to increase keyword density. Always bold subheaders when they contain important, high-traffic keywords.

    • 6

Check the keyword density of your article with an online tool such as the Textalyser tool. The density of your high traffic keywords should be between 2 and 5 percent. Keywords can also be optimized by reducing the percentage of low-traffic terms. If a term you didn't mean to optimize is figuring too prominently in your article, find some synonyms.

    • 7

Find high-traffic synonyms for the chosen keywords and place them carefully throughout your article. This takes advantage of latent semantic indexing, which looks for synonyms and other related terms to gauge the relevancy of your page.

    • 8

Link to your other articles within your new articles. Make sure that the article you're linking to is related to the one you're writing. Also ensure that the text you're linking is relevant. For example, link the term "Mother's Day" to the other Mother's Day articles you've written previously.

    • 9

Navigate to your Content Producer (CP) white page by clicking the "View" button on "My Dashboard." Right-click the RSS symbol that is next to the "Search this CP's Content" search box. Select "Copy Shortcut." Submit the RSS feed to sites which accept them.

    • 10

Create blogs on sites such as MySpace, Blogger and Squidoo. Create small teasers using the first sentences of your articles. Then provide a link to the whole article on Associated Content.

Tips & Warnings

  • Write about all holidays, especially the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  • Write plenty of craft articles, especially for holiday crafts, even if you must submit them for no upfront pay.

  • Include relevant pictures with your article for more page views.

  • Associated Content does not pay upfront for fiction, poetry and most movie, music, video game and book reviews. However, you can still earn a performance bonus for these submissions.
