1
Cut paper into 1/2 inch paper strips that are at least 10 inches in length. Construction paper or writing paper are best suited for this project.
-
2
Hold the paper strip vertically in your hand. Take the top end of the strip and fold it over the rest of the strip, leaving a 1 inch tail. This will create a ribbon or bow shape at the top. Hold it in place with your fingers.

3
Take the tail and fold it underneath into the hole. Pull the end through and tighten it. The remainder of the short end should be placed into the fold on top.
-
4
Take the long end and wrap it around the shape three or four times. In addition to creating a solid shape, you will also create a flap in the center. Insert the end of the paper strip into this flap and pull it through. Continue to wrap the paper around the shape until there's an inch left. Insert the end into the flap. Pull the end through and tighten. Cut off any extra paper.

5
Pinch the sides of the shape to create points. This will make the shape appear more star-like.
