Make a fake Halloween pumpkin patch in your yard to welcome all the little ghosts and goblins. Having a theme in your yard is fun for the little ones that come out for trick or treating. Making a pumpkin patch does not take much money--you just need a few real pumpkins mixed with some fake homemade pumpkins to make the patch full.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plastic pumpkin bags
  • Pumpkins
  • Leaves
  • Hay
  1. Step 1

Buy plastic Halloween pumpkin bags from a local retail store. Stuff the bags with leaves. Not only is this a good way to get rid of the leaves in the yard and the neighborhood, you will have many larger pumpkins for the pumpkin patch.

  2. Step 2

Visit a local pumpkin patch and pick out about twenty different sized pumpkins. The sizes can range from very small to large.

  3. Step 3

Set the pumpkin leaf bags around the yard. Mix in some real pumpkins among the plastic bag pumpkins. Make rows for pumpkins to give the real feeling of a pumpkin patch.

  4. Step 4

Spread some hay around the yard and the pumpkins. This does not have to be a lot of hay, but enough to cover the grassy areas.

  5. Step 5

Add some scarecrows to make the pumpkin patch a little more authentic. Carve a few of the real pumpkins and add lighting such as a candle or a solar light so the little ones can see where they are walking through the pumpkin patch.

Tips & Warnings
  • If using candles for light, make sure the candles are set up off the hay.
  • The pumpkin patch could line the way to the goodies for the trick or treaters.
  • The person handing out the goodies could be dressed as a big pumpkin to add to the scenery.
  • Make sure there is enough light so the little ones can see where they are walking.
