How to Remove U3 From Flash Drives

U3 Launchpad is a platform that comes installed on many flash drives converting them into smart drives. This software allows you to carry emails, calendar appointments, and personal preferences with you and have them automatically installed on any computer you are using. There are several reasons why you may want to remove this software though. If you want more storage room on your flash drive, do not use multiple computers, use a Mac, or work for a company that does not allow the software, then uninstalling U3 Launchpad may be the right option for you.

Instructions

1. Back up all your files on your flash drive to a secure file somewhere else. When you remove the U3 software you will also remove all of your files from your flash drive.

2. Insert your flash drive into your computer. The device must be running U3 Launchpad during the uninstall process.

3. Go to the U3 software website.

4. Click on "Remove Launchpad" at the bottom of the screen. You will be taken to a new page.

5. Fill in the brand of your flash drive and select the reason why you are removing the software. You may select multiple reasons for uninstalling the software. This has no bearing on the uninstall process and is for their data collection purposed only. Click on "Submit and Continue" at the bottom right.

6. Skip the above step if you do not want to submit your reasons for removing U3 by clicking on the "No Thanks, Continue" button at the bottom right.

7. Choose the "Download the Uninstall Application" option on the right side of the screen if you are sure you want to uninstall the U3 software. If you have changed your mind, click on "Keep the U3 Launchpad" button on the left instead.

8. Click on the "Save File" button on the pop up window that will appear. Make sure to take note of where the file is being saved to so you can open it later.

9. Open the uninstall application after it finishes downloading. It will be titled U3Uninstall and saved wherever you chose in the previous step. This will open a new window on your computer.

10. Read the licensing agreement then click the "Accept" button. Click "Next" to move on the the next step.

11. Check the box next to the statement "I want to remove the U3 Launchpad and erase ALL the data on the device." Click "Next" to move on to the next page.

12. Wait while the U3 Launchpad is uninstalled. This may take a few minutes depending on your computer.

13. Click the "Done" button when the uninstall software is finished downloading.

14. Remove your flash drive from your computer.

15. Reinsert your flash drive to finish the uninstall process. U3 Launchpad should not longer be on your flash drive.

Tips & Warnings

• Removing U3 from your flash drive will allow you to use on computers that you do not have administrative access to.

• Be sure you have backed up all your data before you begin.

• U3 cannot be reinstalled once removed. Be sure you want to remove the launchpad before beginning.

• Do not remove the flash drive from your computer during the uninstall process until prompted to do so.
