If you're hanging out at the park with a bunch of kids, and there's a baseball diamond but no sports equipment, try this variation on baseball, using Rock, Paper, Scissors. It's a fun way to get the kids walking or running the bases, and the novelty of it will keep the kids entertained on an otherwise regular day at the park.

    • 1

Have kids choose two teams. Each team lines up at home base. One team will be walking clockwise around the bases, one team will be walking counter-clockwise.

    • 2

Have one member from each team start around the bases. When they meet, they have to stop and play rock, paper, scissors. To play: the kids face each other with their fists in front of their bodies. Each kid taps his top fist onto his bottom fist while saying "rock, paper, scissors." When they say "scissors," the kids form their hands into either a rock (fist), scissors (index and middle fingers out), or paper (hand out flat). To win: paper covers rock, rock smashes scissors, scissors cuts paper.

The winner gets to continue around the bases, while the loser has to return to his or her team. A new team member is dispatched to try and stop the opponent who is continuing on toward his "home run." When the team members meet, they play rock, paper, scissors.
