If you have extra garden tools that you need to put to good use, such as a small trowel and rake, you can create a piece of wall art and decor that will demonstrate your love for your garden. This craft piece is simple to create and can be displayed in your kitchen, living room, mudroom or bedroom and will fit easily in to any decor.

From Quick Guide: Garden Decoration Basics
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 to 12 inch garden trowel
  • 8 to 12 inch garden rake
  • 12 inches of one inch wide ribbon
  • One bunch of dried flowers or one small bouquet of silk flowers
  • Scissors
  • 1 12- inch clear plastic zip ties
  • 8 inches of crafting wire
  • Nail
  • Hammer
  1. Step 1
    Zip ties.

    Zip ties.

Take your garden trowel and rake and cross their handles to form an X. Secure both items tightly with a clear plastic zip tie.

  2. Step 2
    Dried flowers.

    Dried flowers.

Bunch up your floral arrangement by placing the largest bud in the center and the smaller buds as fillers for the sides. Secure tightly with a zip tie to create a small bouquet. Snip off the stems so that they are only one to two inches long. Place the bouquet stem side down in between the top X of the garden tools.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the ribbon around the bottom of the X. Proceed to wrap the ribbon around a second time, covering up the joint where the garden tools meet. Secure the ribbon in front. Trim off the excess length with the scissors.

  4. Step 4

Flip the arrangement over and take the floral wire and secure to a sturdy location on the back of the piece by stringing it through at a center point. Begin to twist the wire tightly to secure. Allow one inch of play and then twist tightly again at the end of the wire to form a hoop. Use your scissors to trim excess wire.

  5. Step 5

Proceed to hammer a nail into the wall where you want to display your garden tool wall art. Carefully hang your wall art by hooking the wire back to the nail.

Tips & Warnings
  • Recycle products such as used garden trowel and rakes, left over silk flowers from another craft project or dried flowers from your garden.
  • This project can also be used as a decor piece on your garden porch or potting shed.
  • You can paint the garden tools if necessary to better coordinate with your ribbon and flowers or your surrounding decor. Be sure to use acrylic craft paint.
